Yes, Summer Footwear Can Be Supportive and Stylish

July 5, 2016

A few weeks into summer and, already, I am in need of new sandals. I have never been one to go out of my way for the best sandals or even shoes for that matter. My last pair of sandals were no more than $20. Unfortunately, my frugal spending has led to some serious foot problems.

Heel pain? Check

Earlier this year I bought a pair of wide golf shoes with arch support, and now I crave the same support in all my footwear.

The problem? Summertime.

For most people, the arrival of warm summer weather is welcomed with sandals, flip-flops, and other open-toe shoes. However, it’s footwear like this that can often lead to more foot problems. Our feet bear the weight of our entire body and play a major role in maintaining our balance. With each step, the arch of your foot should be “locked” to absorb impact. Poor footwear, flip-flops especially, have an unsupportive sole that allows the foot to roll inward when it hits the ground. The “locking” mechanism is released and the arch flattens; this is the difference between ordinary sandals and good footwear structured with arch support.

So, how can you get the great arch support you need and the summer style you want? With Vionic shoes and sandals. Vionic has several styles that carry the American Podiatric Medical Association’s (APMA) Seal of Acceptance, meaning APMA podiatrists have reviewed and ensured its safety, quality, and overall effectiveness.

With the innovative Orthaheel technology built in to each and every sandal, Vionic makes it easy to find summer footwear that supports your alignment while also looking great. You can learn more about these great products, here
